In his weekly Facebook update on Sunday, June 21, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted two major government initiatives: the PosoKanei price-comparison tool and the Home Renovation subsidy program — while also marking a historic milestone in the restoration of the Parthenon’s western pediment.

A Landmark Moment at the Acropolis

Mitsotakis opened his post with deep pride over the completion of the western pediment restoration on the Parthenon — a project over 220 years in the making. With scaffolding removed, the monument now appears in its most complete form since antiquity. He praised the scientists, engineers, and skilled artisans of the Acropolis Restoration Service for their precision and dedication, calling the achievement ‘historically significant’ not only for Greece but for world heritage.

The Prime Minister stressed that cultural preservation is not a secondary policy priority for his government, but a continuous national obligation. Beyond the Acropolis, he cited recent restorations across the Dodecanese: the restored bell tower of Agios Ioannis Prodromos on Symi; conservation work on three medieval monuments in Rhodes’ Old Town; and the new Archaeological Museum in Chalki, alongside the restoration of the Panagia tis Chorianis church.

All these projects were funded by Greece’s Recovery Fund — underscoring the government’s commitment to investing in culture as both part of national identity and a vital legacy for future generations.

PosoKanei: Transparency, Not Delegation

Shifting focus to consumer policy, Mitsotakis introduced the newly launched posokanei.gov.gr platform — a digital tool designed to compare supermarket prices in real time. He clarified that the initiative does not shift regulatory responsibility onto citizens. Instead, it empowers both the state and consumers to monitor market practices more effectively.

“Download the app, test its features, and you’ll see how it can make us more demanding and conscious consumers — and push businesses to become more competitive,” he wrote.

To critics — whether from opposition parties or the private sector — who question PosoKanei’s role in promoting transparency and competition, Mitsotakis delivered a firm message: “Get used to it — PosoKanei is here to stay, and it will improve every week.”

Home Renovation Subsidies Up to €36,000

The Prime Minister also confirmed that the Home Renovation program remains active, offering financial support of up to €36,000 per household for energy-efficient upgrades and structural improvements. The scheme is part of broader efforts to boost domestic demand, modernise housing stock, and reduce energy consumption.
