Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis presented 15 government policies in a TikTok video marking Labor Day. In his message, Mitsotakis highlighted the 35% increase in the minimum wage, unemployment reduction to its lowest point in 17 years, the creation of 500,000 jobs, a 10.8% decrease in female unemployment, and an almost 20% decrease in youth unemployment. He also mentioned the digital work card for 1.5 million employees. Additional policies include increasing declared overtime by up to 60% in specific sectors, extending maternity leave from six to nine months, introducing paternity leave, care leave, and reproductive health-related medical examination leave. The prime minister emphasized the establishment of a framework protecting workers from workplace violence and harassment, rules for telework and the right to disconnect, as well as a 5.4% reduction in social security contributions. Tax reductions of 50% for those returning or immigrating to Greece for seven years were also noted. Looking ahead, Mitsotakis outlined goals such as raising the minimum wage to €950 and the average salary to €1500 by 2027, further reducing social security contributions, strengthening collective labor agreements, and expanding the digital work card to the entire market by 2027. ‘Day by day, we strengthen the worker and improve their daily life,’ concluded Mitsotakis, noting more work is yet to come.
