Mitsotakis: Greek Navy to Patrol Outside Libyan Waters to Prevent Illegal Migrants

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that naval vessels will conduct preventive patrols outside Libyan territorial waters to stop illegal migrants from entering Greece. Speaking with President Konstantinos Tasoulas, Mitsotakis emphasized that smugglers will not dictate who enters Greece. The Defense Ministry will provide further details on the naval operations. Concerning the Middle East crisis, Mitsotakis expressed government concerns and urged all parties to return to negotiations to avoid escalating tensions. He also highlighted an attack on a Greek Orthodox church in Syria, calling on the new Syrian government to actively protect all religious communities.
