The next day of the election to SYRIZA, the Prime Minister had his first telephone communication with the new president of the party of Koumoundourou. Mr. Mitsotakis telephoned Mr. Famelos and congratulated him on his election. The new president of Syriza Socrates Famelos was elected with 49.41% with Paul Polakis following with 43.51% Nicolas Farantouris took 5.09% while Apostolos Gletsos 1.99%. The marginal percentage the new president took caused Paul Polakis to accept the result – because as he said he did not want to tire the voters of Syriza – and so next Sunday there will be no polls. The next day for Socrates Famello is particularly difficult, since he will have to retake the thread from the beginning within a broken party and inspire Syriza’s members, executives and friends. The fact that there are MPs in SYRIZA who are considering leaving Koumoundourou makes things even harder, as the new president is invited to approach them and persuade them not to leave.
Mitsotakis congratulated Famello by telephone for his election to Syriza’s “timoni”
