Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking ahead of the NATO Summit, welcomed the ceasefire brokered by President Trump between Iran and Israel. However, he emphasized that a lasting solution can only be achieved through active diplomacy. ‘It’s crucial to remember that a ceasefire must also be enforced in Gaza for humanitarian aid to be distributed,’ Mitsotakis noted. He highlighted the importance of all NATO members increasing their defense spending, stating that Greece has consistently exceeded the 2% target, even during financial crises. ‘Greece spends over 3% on defense and plans to invest more than €25 billion over the next 12 years,’ he announced. The prime minister reiterated NATO’s goal of equitable burden-sharing among its 32 member states.
