On Monday morning (17.03.25), Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Ministry of Finance, where he met with the new ‘czar’ of the Greek economy, following Moody’s upgrade. This marked the first stop in Mitsotakis’ round of visits to ministries after the government reshuffle last Friday. The meeting with Kyriakos Pierakakis lasted 1.5 hours, with the prime minister signaling a restart amid political and social unrest in the country. In his statements immediately after the meeting at the Ministry of Finance, the prime minister emphasized the upgrade of the Greek economy by Moody’s and announced new tax cuts. ‘I want to wish good luck to the critical ministries, thank Mr. Hatzidakis once again. The Moody’s upgrade is proof of Greece’s economic progress despite critical geopolitical developments; the productive model is changing as promised. We will continue our efforts against tax evasion, ensuring citizens see benefits soon. Recovery Fund money significantly impacts the Greek economy, not just benefiting the few and powerful,’ said the prime minister. Exiting the Ministry of Finance, Mitsotakis also briefly spoke with students. ‘Will you do something for these children?’ asked one woman. ‘We are doing a lot,’ responded the prime minister.
