Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, emphasized that the Ministry of Culture restores all monuments irrespective of their historical periods while strictly adhering to legal frameworks. In response to a pressing question by independent MP Nikos Papadopoulos titled ‘The Systematic Diminishment of Greece’s Historical Monuments,’ Mendoni stated that the Ministry is currently executing the largest cultural infrastructure project in its history, with over 850 projects exceeding a budget of €1.3 billion. She highlighted that whether it be Christian churches or Ottoman buildings, these structures were crafted by Greek artisans and belong to the Greek people.

Mendon further clarified several allegations brought against the Ministry, including drone usage near archaeological sites, construction disputes near significant landmarks like Kallimarmaro, and incidents involving restoration challenges at Knossos. The Minister reiterated her commitment to preserving Greece’s cultural heritage through systematic processes rather than political agendas, accusing critics of distorting facts for partisan gain. Additionally, she defended the management practices at institutions like the National Gallery, stating that all actions comply with established laws and procedures.
