The minimum wage will increase by €50 from April 1st, reaching €880 gross, as announced yesterday (March 26, 2025) by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Today, the Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Niki Kerameos, is holding a press conference to elaborate on the changes following the new minimum wage hike. This increase will also raise all basic salaries in the public sector, resulting in a €30 gross increase. Kerameos stated yesterday that ‘the new minimum wage increase to €880 represents another significant step in boosting employees’ disposable income, enhancing their purchasing power, and supporting Greek society. We continue working tirelessly to fulfill our commitment to a minimum wage of €950 and an average salary of €1,500 by 2027.’ The minimum wage increase translates to an additional annual gross income of €700, equating to a net benefit of €473 for workers without children or with one child, and €606 for those with two or more children. Since 2019, the total minimum wage increase amounts to €230 monthly, representing a 35.4% rise. Greece now ranks 11th among the 22 EU countries implementing a statutory minimum wage. ‘Social partners are free – and we encourage them – to agree through the National General Collective Labour Agreement on a minimum wage above €880,’ Kerameos said today.
