Athens Stock Exchange opened July’s first trading session on a cautious note, with the General Index posting a modest decline amid broadly weaker European equity markets. At 11:15 a.m. local time, the index stood at 2,453.99 points — down 0.23% from the previous close. Total turnover reached €20.92 million.

Key Sector and Capitalization Indices

The Large-Cap Index fell 0.31%, while the Mid-Cap Index declined 0.24%. The Banking Index also moved lower.

Top Performers and Laggards

Among large-cap stocks, Motor Oil led gains with a rise of 1.35%, followed by OLP (+0.77%), Allwyn (+0.72%), and Sarantis (+0.68%). On the downside, OTE dropped 3.96%, ELPE fell 2.81%, Titan declined 1.64%, and Piraeus Bank slid 1.03%.

European Markets

European equities opened lower amid growing caution over the trajectory of Iran–U.S. diplomatic talks. The pan-European STOXX 600 Index edged down 0.11% to 641.11 points at 11:15 a.m. Greek time. London’s FTSE 100 dipped 0.04%, while Germany’s DAX rose 0.28%. France’s CAC 40 fell 0.55%, Italy’s FTSE MIB dropped 0.59%, and Spain’s IBEX 35 declined 0.73%.

The technology sector remained flat overall, though ASML — the Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer — slipped 1.1%.
