In a new wave of airstrikes targeting Iranian military facilities, the United States conducted operations for the 12th consecutive night across the region. The strikes — part of Washington’s broader campaign to curb Iran’s ability to threaten international shipping and commercial vessels — began at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
U.S. Campaign Targets Iranian Military Infrastructure
“U.S. forces have begun new strikes against Iranian military targets. The mission will further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten civilian and commercial vessels transiting the region,” CENTCOM stated in an official release.
Casualties Reported Near Shalamcheh Border Crossing
Iran’s state-affiliated SNN television network reported that a U.S. airstrike hit the Shalamcheh border crossing in southwestern Khuzestan Province, killing two people and wounding 11 others. The attack reportedly occurred near the border checkpoint, and Iranian authorities have launched an investigation into the exact circumstances.
The deputy governor of Khuzestan confirmed the injuries but declined to provide further details.
Strikes Concentrated Across Southern Provinces
According to Iranian sources, the bulk of the U.S. strikes focused on three southern provinces: Khuzestan, Hormozgan, and Bushehr.
In Khuzestan, multiple locations were struck, including the city of Ramshir — where a reported industrial facility was targeted. Explosions were also heard near Ahvaz and the port city of Mahshahr.
In Hormozgan Province, powerful blasts shook the city of Sirik, located just kilometers from the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most critical energy transit corridors.
In Bushehr Province, local authorities said a power infrastructure facility near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant was hit, causing temporary electricity outages across the wider area.
Reports of Iranian Retaliatory Actions
Alongside the U.S. operations, Iranian sources claim retaliatory actions were taken against American military installations across the region — including in Kuwait, where strikes are reported to have occurred.
