Microsoft distinction for 3 Greek teachers

With great success was completed the competition Microsoft MIXathon Challenge, through which heroes three Greek teachers for their innovative ideas, which have as objective to contribute to… promoting and enhancing the digital skills of young people, with the help of Microsoft technologies. The competition was held through the official website of the MIXathon Challenge, MIXathon.org in the context of the program Microsoft Partners in Learning, a global project that aims to encourage educators to connect, collaborate, create and share, in order to understand their students ‘ their abilities to the maximum.Through the website of the competition, were informed more than 40,000 teachers in 32 European countries, 150 participants made it to the final, but it has also highlighted 54 winners from 18 countries, among which is Greece.Dimitris Aesop, special educator at the 2nd Special Elementary School ΒόλουΠιο in particular, Dimitris Aesop, special educator at the 2nd Special Elementary School of Volos,won first place for his participation with the title “Digital storytelling-Social stories”, which describes a special therapeutic method for improving social skills for people who are on the autism spectrum. As he said himself, “I’m glad to be a part of the Microsoft MIXathon Challenge I learned to use this useful tool for us teachers. I look forward to the next presentations to me through this tool, you will certainly be more pleasant, informative and interesting”.The Claus Varvarigos, responsible educator in the Schools Avgoulea-Linardatou, won second place, with the participation of, in the context of the research work of the second year of high School, with the title “AIDS_for_MIXathon” , which has as its object the disease AIDS and the virus that causes HIV.He stated that “The competition Microsoft MIXathon Challenge was an excellent opportunity for me and my students to become familiar with the new add-in Office MIX. Through the exploratory learning and the creation, my students were made aware of in the best possible way in the face of a particularly serious disease, AIDS, and the social implications. And now, through the mix.office.com themselves transfer the knowledge acquired to their peers (and not only). This award, as a culmination of our efforts, it fills me with joy and the mood for still more MIXing to my students.”Finally, Yannis Σουδίας, a teacher at 8th Primary School of Naoussa,won third place in the innovative course “Introduction to Fractions”, the aim of which is to help students understand, through simple examples, fractions, emphasizing that “The Office Mix is a unique tool in the hands of teachers and students. Easily and simply able to create effective interactive lessons. It was a unique opportunity for me and my students to design and create the best lesson”.It is worth noting that the work of Dimitris Αίσωπου was awarded in the special category for work on the theme of “Special Education”. The award will be received by the sponsor of the competition in this category, the Greek startup Kinems, which, with the help of the camera Microsoft Kinect, has created a method of game-based learning for children with multiple learning difficulties.The three winners will have the opportunity to participate in the biggest event of educators, Global Educator Exchange, which will be held in March 2016 in Budapest.The interests of teachers were made on the application of Microsoft, Office Mix, a free extension to Microsoft PowerPoint, which facilitates the conversion of presentations into fun, interactive online courses which can be shared between students and colleagues from within OneNote, on the internet or in the corresponding learning management system.Source
