Michalis Dimitrakopoulos on Petros Philippidis Trial: If I Were an Unethical Lawyer

The trial of Petros Philippidis continues, with his lawyer Michalis Dimitrakopoulos reiterating that his client is innocent. During the show “Smiles Again,” Dimitrakopoulos supported the testimonies given by Drosaki, Papoulia, and Dandoulaki as being in favor of the accused actor. ‘The testimony of Ms. Drosaki, which you described as shocking, along with those of Ms. Papoulia and Ms. Dandoulaki, are believed by the public to be against Mr. Philippidis. However, all these testimonies are in his favor,’ stated Dimitrakopoulos. He emphasized that none of the women who testified claimed that Philippidis had attempted to assault them. When asked what he would do if a female client came to him with allegations similar to those in the testimonies, such as exposing private parts, Dimitrakopoulos responded, ‘If I were an old-school lawyer, I’d tell her, “You don’t say he used physical violence, so this isn’t rape.” And if I were unethical, I’d file a rape charge. Because such lawyers exist.’ Furthermore, when questioned about how he’d react if his daughter came to him with a similar complaint, he said, ‘If I had a daughter, I’d tell her, “We’re going to the forensic doctor and the prosecutor right now to deal with the rapist.”’ The discussion highlighted the complexities and contradictions within the legal system regarding sexual assault cases.
