The upgraded ‘Anakainizo – Noykiazw’ program is a flagship initiative to address the housing crisis, according to Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michailidou. Speaking on SKAI, Michailidou announced the program’s significant expansion, offering support of up to €36,000 and an additional €5,000 per child, with subsidies reaching up to 90%. The aim is to reintegrate thousands of vacant properties into the housing market. Subsidies can reach €300 per square meter for homes up to 120 sq.m., covering energy-efficient upgrades and renovations such as kitchen and bathroom modernization, window replacements, and electrical and plumbing work. The minister emphasized that this is the third major housing program after ‘Spiti mou 1’ and ‘Spiti mou 2’, expressing optimism it will benefit tens of thousands. She also highlighted the launch of contracting for beneficiaries and providers in the Early Childhood Intervention program, which has approved 2,500 beneficiaries and 85 service providers, offering up to €800 monthly for at least 20 therapy sessions. Additionally, the deadline for the ‘Accessibility at Home’ program has been extended to February 6, 2026, with state funding of up to €14,500 for accessibility modifications; 1,500 recipients have already received advance payments, while around 2,500 applications remain pending documentation. On political matters, she dismissed recent abortion-related remarks by Karydi as ‘outdated,’ reaffirming settled legal issues and the importance of institutional justice.
