Mexico: Two Children Among 11 Dead After Tour Bus Overturns

At least 11 people were killed and another 17 injured when the bus they were traveling on overturned in the early morning hours in the northern state of Nuevo León, Mexico. The passengers were members of the same family heading to a beach destination in Tamaulipas state, according to Mexican media reports. Early this morning, the passenger bus flipped over in the municipality of Hualahuises while traveling from Monterrey to Tampico. Emergency services including Civil Protection, Firefighters, Red Cross, and the National Guard rushed to the scene. Governor Samuel García confirmed that 11 people died and 17 were injured, offering condolences to the victims’ families. Reports suggest the driver fell asleep at the wheel, causing the bus to crash into a protective wall and overturn. The deceased include nine adults and two children under the age of five.
