In the Mexican city of Lagos de Moreno—dubbed the country’s ‘Gotham City’—a self-proclaimed vigilante known as ‘Batman’ has taken it upon himself to fight crime. According to the New York Post, local authorities are searching for the masked figure, who is accused of hunting down suspected motorcycle thieves and tying them to streetlight poles.

Mustaches, Motorcycles, and a Message

At least five men were found bound to poles with tape, their faces marked with drawn-on cat mustaches and the Spanish word for “thief” (“ladron”). Next to each restrained suspect, police discovered the motorcycles they allegedly tried to steal—suggesting the vigilante not only intercepted the crimes but also returned the stolen property.

Police Response and Uncertain Charges

Mexican authorities have classified the bound men as victims—not suspects—and are actively pursuing the vigilante. Juan Pablo Hernández, Mexico’s State Security Minister, confirmed that law enforcement is treating the incident as an assault and working to identify and arrest the individual. The men were eventually freed from the poles and received medical attention for their injuries. It remains unclear whether they are under investigation for attempted theft.

For now, police continue their search for the mysterious figure who appears to apprehend suspects in real time—and does so with unsettling precision.
