A firefighting helicopter crashed into Lake Aoos near Metsovo in northwestern Greece. Initial reports indicated two crew members were injured, but both have since been successfully rescued.
The pilot and co-pilot managed to exit the cockpit and were seen swimming in the lake before being pulled to safety. The helicopter was assisting in wildfire suppression efforts in the Grevena region.
Emergency services activated an alarm in the area, and a swift rescue operation was launched. Both crew members are reported to be in good health following the incident.
The aircraft had taken off from Ioannina Airport.
