According to a new Metron Analysis poll presented on Wednesday, July 2, 2026, on MEGA’s main evening news bulletin, New Democracy (ND) holds a double-digit lead over Alexis Tsipras’s newly formed party, ELAS. ND scores 30.4% in vote intention, while ELAS stands at 17.1%—a gap of 13.3 percentage points.
PASOK Reclaims Third Place Amid Shifts
The PASOK party, led by Maria Kallithianou, appears to be regaining third place, registering 11.4% in the same poll—up from 9.4% in the previous vote-intention estimate. The survey suggests PASOK is drawing significant support from former ND voters (21%) and from those who cast blank or invalid ballots—or didn’t vote at all (30%).
Public Sentiment Remains Largely Negative
A majority of respondents—67%—believe Greece is heading in the wrong direction. Inflation remains the top concern for citizens, cited by 50%—a 3-point increase from last month. Public confidence in governance is low: 67% rate the government negatively, and 64% hold a negative view of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Opposition leadership fares even worse: 82% view the official opposition negatively, and 80% hold a negative opinion of PASOK’s leader, Nikos Androulakis.
Leadership Approval and Preferred PM
In terms of personal popularity among party leaders, Mitsotakis leads with 36% approval, followed closely by Kallithianou at 34%. When asked who would make the best prime minister, Mitsotakis again tops the list with 29%, Tsipras follows with 15%, Androulakis with 5%, and Kyriakos Velopoulos with 4%.
Voter Migration Patterns
ELAS draws its strongest base from former SYRIZA supporters (54%), followed by blank/invalid ballots and non-voters (17%), PASOK voters (12%), and even a small share from ND (5%).
