Metro: Stations from Neo Kosmos to Syntagma to Close Earlier on Red Line

Traffic adjustments will be in effect from February 8, 2026, on Metro Line 2 during evening hours due to rail replacement works and 5G network installation. Specifically, stations along the ‘Neo Kosmos – Syntagma’ section will close earlier starting Sunday, February 8, 2026. Affected stations include Syntagma (Line 2), Acropolis, Syngrou-Fix, and Neo Kosmos — all closing at 9:40 PM, two and a half hours earlier than usual, from Sunday through Thursday. Note: Syntagma station remains open for Line 3 (Demosio Theatro – Doukissis Plakentias – Airport). Metro train operations on Line 2 during works will run only between Anthoupoli–Panepistimio and Agios Ioannis–Elliniko. Final trains before station closures will depart as follows: From Anthoupoli toward Elliniko at 9:25 PM (Panepistimio at 9:37 PM, Syntagma at 9:40 PM, Acropolis at 9:41 PM, Syngrou-Fix at 9:43 PM, Neo Kosmos at 9:44 PM); and from Elliniko toward Anthoupoli at 9:25 PM (Agios Dimitrios at 9:33 PM, Agios Ioannis at 9:36 PM, Neo Kosmos at 9:37 PM, Syngrou-Fix at 9:39 PM, Acropolis at 9:41 PM, Syntagma at 9:43 PM). To serve passengers between Panepistimio and Agios Ioannis stations, OASA introduces temporary bus line X15 (‘Panepistimio – Agios Ioannis’) from February 8, 2026, operating daily Sunday–Thursday from 9:40 PM until metro service ends. Stops include: Panepistimio (Sinai St.), Syntagma (Amalias Ave., near Syntagma Square), Acropolis (Amalias Ave.), Fix (Kallirrois Ave., near tram stop), Neo Kosmos (Ambrosiou Frantzi St.), and Agios Ioannis (Kasomouli St.) — and vice versa, with an additional disembarkation-only stop at Panepistimio (Panepistimiou St., between Sinas and Korai streets). We acknowledge the inconvenience caused and emphasize that these measures are essential to complete critical infrastructure upgrades improving daily commutes.
