Metro Line 4: In Painter and Veikos the metrodika – In the final line the works in Thessaloniki follow Kalamaria

At an intensive pace, the work in Athens progresses, while in the final line are the procedures for the start of the Thessaloniki Metro, on 30 November. As Greek Metro CEO Nikolaos Kouretas stated at the 7th Conference of Infrastructure and Transport – ITC 2024, which takes place today, Tuesday (17.09.24) and tomorrow at the Athens Music Hall – International Conference Center, there are currently ongoing work in 25 of the total 26 seats of Metro 4 in Athens, with the exception of the position at the Rizaris station, where there is still legal outstanding. “In 20 places, the progress has been completed. TBM Metropolitan Athena from Katehaki is over two kilometers long, in 10 days will be under the station of Painter. Metrontikas Niki will be at the first station in Veikou Island in a month. It’s a difficult project downtown. We encounter difficulties daily, solve them and move on,” he noted. At the same time, in the final line are the preparations for the delivery to the passengers of the metro in Thessaloniki, which will take place on 30 November. These days all systems tests and evaluation are completed. As Mr. Kouretas stressed, work on the extension of the subway to Kalamaria will begin immediately, an extension that will add five new stations and is expected to be completed in October 2025. In the next stage, the expansions are originally planned to the west of the city (in Abelokipos, Eumosmos and Lagada Street) and the expansion to the east from Kalamaria to Thessaloniki airport. “When you enter Venizelos Station, you will see the most beautiful station in the world.
