METLEN is strengthening its strategic presence in the defense sector by expanding its industrial complex in Volos and establishing a significant defense hub in Greece. Specifically, METLEN signed a purchase agreement for a property spanning 19 acres within the Volos Industrial Park with workshop facilities of 50,000 sq ft and is already planning to acquire an adjacent plot of 8 acres. This area borders and forms a unified site with approximately 32 acres acquired by the company in 2023, where it is currently constructing a modern production unit for high-specialized metal constructions for defense applications. The total area of 60 acres will specialize in the construction of tanks, attachments, equipment, and specialized structures for armored military vehicles using advanced bonding and assembly technology developed by METLEN over the past three decades. When fully developed, it will consist of the workshop in Nea Ionia Volos, Service Steel in the Volos Industrial Park, and three additional complexes, including the current acquisition (five independent workshops that can handle five different programs within the perimeter of the Volos Industrial Park, excluding the historic Nea Ionia workshop, which remains operational). METLEN holds a leading position in heavy and complex metal constructions, with its Volos industrial unit recognized globally for its defense production. This iconic facility, established in 1963, has evolved into a specialized production unit, with 100% of its output destined for exports until today. More details about the intensification of METLEN’s defense sector will be presented at the Capital Markets Day in the London Stock Exchange on April 28, 2025.
