Messinia: ‘Here is my father, killed’ – The First Words of the Killer After the Double Murder of His Parents

The shock continues following the double murder that took place on Sunday afternoon (June 22, 2025), when a 60-year-old man grabbed a knife and, in a frenzied state, killed both his elderly parents. The first person to enter the house in Messinia and encounter the bodies of the two elderly individuals surrounded by a pool of blood revealed today (June 23, 2025) on Live News what the killer’s first words were. “This son who committed the atrocity came down naked. ‘Where is your father?’ I asked him. ‘There he is,’ he replied, pointing to the body. He was also killed,” said the witness. At that moment, he fled the house in horror and immediately called the authorities. Police rushed to the scene and arrested the 60-year-old, who did not offer any resistance. “He had put on his pants and returned to the bed. They pushed him, handcuffed him, and took him away.” The brother of the suspect lamented that every time he sought his confinement, doctors would release him after just a few days of care. “I was a police officer for 27 years. One time, I took him to Dromokaitio; he hit me in the face, I put handcuffs on him, and the doctor reprimanded me because, as his brother, I had handcuffed him and then released him. He used to say, ‘I want to kill you, I hear voices.’” He had been hospitalized eight times in psychiatric facilities, with his last admission occurring earlier this month. “My brother-in-law has had issues for years. We locked him up, but they kept letting him out. No one helped us, there was no support. These children need help. We told everyone. My in-laws suffered but loved him. We would lock him up, and they would let him out, saying he was harmless. We warned them he would kill, but they said he wouldn’t. He didn’t take his medication, drank alcohol, and used substances. Everyone said he was harmless. There needs to be support for these children. It’s not taboo to talk about mental health problems.” Everyone in the village knew that sooner or later tragedy would strike. Neighbors reported frequent noises from the family home and described how the 60-year-old became a different person when he didn’t take his prescribed medication, often terrorizing locals and getting into fights.
