Doctors at the Pylos Health Center fought for more than an hour to revive a 6-year-old boy who drowned in a swimming pool in Yalova, Messinia, on Thursday afternoon, July 2.
Tragic Incident at Luxury Villa
At around 4:00 p.m., the boy’s 32-year-old mother — reportedly living alone with her son, who had pre-existing health conditions — was cleaning a luxury villa with a private pool in Yalova. She had brought her son with her, as she is separated from his father.
According to initial reports, a domestic helper briefly went upstairs to the villa’s first floor. During that moment, the child appears to have slipped away from his mother’s supervision and wandered downstairs near the pool. Security camera footage reportedly shows the boy moving unsteadily around the pool’s edge before stumbling and falling into the water.
Emergency Response and Failed Resuscitation
The mother quickly searched for him and soon discovered him in the pool. She pulled him out immediately. Emergency responders and two doctors from the Pylos Health Center arrived shortly thereafter.
Upon arrival, medical staff found the child without a pulse. They began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on-site and then transferred him to the Pylos Health Center. The entire medical team worked intensively to revive him — but despite their prolonged and desperate efforts, the boy could not be saved.
The mother, left devastated and in shock, struggled to comprehend what had happened.
Legal Proceedings
The following day, the 32-year-old woman appeared before the public prosecutor in Kalamata. She was released without restrictions pending further investigation.
