A 61-year-old man with a history of severe psychiatric issues was arrested for the double murder of his elderly parents in a village in Messinia. The man, who had been hospitalized eight times in psychiatric institutions due to schizophrenia, schizotypal, and paranoid disorders, grabbed an ax and cold-bloodedly killed his parents, leaving them in pools of blood. Reports from the ‘Morning Zone’ show on Action 24 revealed that despite being aware of his dangerous tendencies if he stopped taking his medication, doctors repeatedly discharged him after short stays. The brother of the suspect, also a police officer, recounted how the perpetrator once told him, “I want to kill you, I want to kill our parents; I hear voices.” The wife of the suspect tearfully described her mother-in-law as an angel and expressed frustration with the medical system, stating they were warned he would kill if left untreated. Neighbors noted that when medicated, the man appeared normal but could become violent without treatment, having previously threatened café patrons with broken beer bottles and knives. The first person to discover the horrifying crime described finding the elderly couple lying on the floor and immediately alerting authorities.
