Merkel in the Kremlin – Talks with Putin have begun

“Even if we have deep differences, we talk to each other and this must continue,” Merkel said.

Talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel began in the Kremlin shortly after she laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Alexander’s Garden.

At the start of the closed-door meeting in the Kremlin, the German Chancellor, on the occasion of her last visit to Russian President Vladimir Putin, called for the continuation of the dialogue with Russia despite the “deep differences”.

“Even if we have deep differences, we are talking to each other and this must continue,” the German chancellor, who will step down in the autumn, told Putin in the Kremlin.
