Mendoni Responds to Androulakis: ‘He Hasn’t Visited Knossos Recently’

In a sharp response to the statements made by PASOK president regarding the collapse of the dolphin fresco in the palace of Knossos, Culture Minister Lina Mendoni fired back. “It seems that Mr. Androulakis hasn’t visited Knossos recently,” Mendoni emphasized in her statement. The Ministry of Culture, under Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s governments, not only genuinely cares about the preservation, protection, and promotion of Knossos but also leads the national goal of including Minoan palaces in UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Mendoni pointed out that the restoration of the ‘King’s Megaron’ was completed between September 2019 and the end of 2023, while plans for the ‘Queen’s Megaron’ are underway. Meanwhile, Androulakis criticized the Ministry of Culture for negligence, calling for immediate accountability and an apology from the minister.
