As Olympiacos faces its final competitive match of the regular Super League season, Jose Luis Mendilibar has urged his players to remain highly focused for victory. With Olympiacos celebrating its 100th anniversary since its foundation, Mendilibar sounded the alarm within his team to avoid complacency against OFI. In his statements, Mendilibar addressed the team’s management following their first loss after an unbeaten streak: ‘That’s football, and you must always adapt quickly. It’s not common for a team to remain unbeaten for four months. It was tough to maintain that streak, and at some point, we were bound to lose. Now, we return to the league where we aim for more victories. In Europe, anything can happen, but against OFI, we only want a win. It will be a challenging game as we face a strong team, but we are determined to secure all three points.’ Regarding the match coinciding with celebrations for the club’s centenary, he said: ‘We must enjoy this moment. We must celebrate because a century of life with so much success is no small feat. We should celebrate while staying very concentrated and cautious because we have a tough game against a team that deserves our utmost respect.’ On the competitive aspect of the encounter: ‘We must play our game. We cannot lose focus and must remain true to our football principles. We aim to deliver a good performance without forgetting that the opponent can become very dangerous at any moment.’
