The shocking revelations surrounding the attack by a 37-year-old man on his mother, sister, and uncle early Tuesday morning (July 1, 2025) in Megara have left the local community in shock. Just before 09:00, for reasons still unknown, he launched a violent knife attack on his relatives while they were inside their home in Peukenea, Megara, leaving them with deep stab wounds.
The victims—his mother and sister—suffered serious injuries, while his uncle sustained lighter wounds. All three were rushed to the Megara Health Center, where doctors were stunned by the brutality of the assault.
“This all happened this morning. They brought them here in very critical condition—especially his sister, I believe, whom we transferred to Tzaneio Hospital, while the other two went to Thriasio in fairly severe condition,” said the director of the Megara Health Center on Live News.
“The injuries the patients had were extremely severe—clearly inflicted by someone with intense violence and aggression. From what I heard, he delivered a large stab wound to one woman that was almost like a mastectomy. It was barbaric. What I saw with my own eyes was horrifying. We’re still trying to recover from it even now, hours later,” he added.
“There were deep wounds on their arms, likely from trying to defend themselves, but also injuries to the stomach and chest. They were conscious—they couldn’t speak, but you could see in their eyes that they weren’t in a coma,” he continued.
The attacker reportedly had a history of violence, including an incident several years ago where he attacked a doctor. He was known to use drugs for many years, and family members revealed he had been briefly hospitalized in a psychiatric clinic but was soon released.
“He was taking drugs, sweetheart—he was a long-time addict. He should’ve been placed in an institution. The boy wasn’t well. What were they waiting for? For him to slaughter them?” said a cousin of the family on Live News.
“They took him to the psychiatric hospital for a short time and then took him back home. Now look what’s happened. If there were more people around, he would’ve killed ten. He would’ve slaughtered all the nieces and nephews. We knew it. I used to see him and shudder,” she added.
According to investigations, the 37-year-old had prior criminal records related to narcotics:
– In 2020, he was arrested under Greece’s narcotics law for possession as part of a 60-person drug trafficking network.
– In 2021, he was again arrested for possession of small amounts of drugs in Zefyri.
He had previously been incarcerated in 2014 and 2016, and just last night, authorities had once again requested his detention before the attack occurred.
