A shocking stabbing incident occurred on Tuesday in Peukenaia, Megara, where a 37-year-old man with serious psychiatric issues attacked his elderly mother, sister, and uncle. Speaking this morning (02.07.2025) was the cousin of the perpetrator, shedding light on the horrifying event that left three family members seriously injured.

The mother and uncle sustained severe wounds across their bodies but are reportedly in relatively stable condition. Doctors at the Health Center of Megara noted that the injuries on the mother’s sternum resembled those from a mastectomy.

The cousin appeared on the show ‘Kalimera Ellada’ on ANT1, revealing how he rushed to the health center upon hearing about the attack and is still traumatized by what he witnessed. He described seeing the uncle covered in blood and hearing him say, “Our own Dhimas stabbed me.”

According to the cousin, all three victims managed to escape the attacker by running in different directions through the fields. He also emphasized the psychological struggles of the accused, stating, “This kid has been fighting his demons for years. He’s not a bad person; he just becomes aggressive when pressured.”

It was reported that the suspect allegedly flew into a rage after learning his family had requested his readmission to a psychiatric clinic. Rumors suggest the mother had recently approached police seeking urgent hospitalization for her son. However, the reason the admission didn’t occur the same day remains unclear.

Stavros Balaska, a police analyst also appearing on the show, explained that judicial and police procedures for involuntary psychiatric admissions usually proceed quickly, but bottlenecks often occur at clinics and hospitals.

Forensic evidence suggests the victims fled into nearby fields, which helped them evade further harm. The mother and uncle are currently receiving treatment at Tzaneio General Hospital, while the sister, who is in critical condition, has been admitted to Thriasio Hospital, which opened a special unit specifically for her care.
