Authorities arrested a 21-year-old man on Tuesday (03.02.2026) under an arrest warrant issued by the competent Investigative Authority, charging him with aggravated robbery, attempted murder, and illegal weapons possession committed during summer 2025 against an elderly man in Megara. The violent robbery was solved by the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. According to Hellenic Police, in the early hours of 21 January 2025, the suspect broke into the victim’s home, inflicted severe physical violence causing life-threatening injuries, and stole approximately €5,000. The victim was hospitalized for an extended period and later died. The investigation was conducted by officers from the Property Crimes Unit of the Sub-Directorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes Against Life and Property, in cooperation with the Megara Crimes Investigation Unit. During interrogation, evidence confirmed his involvement; two mobile phones were seized during searches of residences. The case file was submitted to the competent Public Prosecutor, who assigned it to an investigating judge, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant. The suspect has prior convictions for theft and robbery and was already detained under another warrant for serious thefts. Police investigations continue to determine possible involvement in additional robberies and thefts.
