Maybe we are obese and don’t we know?

Many of us know the dimensions of the phenomenon of obesity, of this modern epidemic, and we are concerned about the dangers, and the disastrous effects on almost all systems and organs of the human body.
Most, however, believe that they don’t regard as a problem, that is not obese and are distancing themselves from any healthy way of eating mindlessly. The incorrect perception of the ideal body and the compromise with the excess pounds of them away from the standards of the Mediterranean diet and in combination with other factors (reduced physical activity, increased consumption of prepared foods, etc.), leading to a one-way street that leads to the gradual increase in body weight.
According to the dietitian-nutritionist mr Peter Χαντζαρίδη, the purpose of the article is through the presentation of certain indicators to help us in the assessment of the existence or not of a health problem (obesity) and the risks likely to be lurking.
Body Mass Index (D.M.P.) – BodyMassIndex (B.M.I.)
The Body Mass Index is a widely-used tool in the scientific community. It is widely used by the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international organisations in epidemiological studies. This is a crude indicator of assessment of obesity in adult men and women, the calculation of which is easy from anyone. Equal to the quotient of the body weight of a person (in kilograms) to the square of the height (expressed in meters).
For example a person with weight 90 kg and height of 1.70 meters is D.M.P.:
D.M.P.= 90 / (1,70)2 = 31,1
The following table shows the limits of the price of the board.M.P.

The importance of the measurement of this is not limited to a simple assessment of obesity. The increase of adipose tissue in the human body is responsible for many diseases and this is why the identification is of the utmost importance. So over the price of 27 BMI may warn of an increased risk of diabetes and heart disease. People aged between 20 and 44 years of age with a BMI greater than 25, have five to six times more likely to develop diabetes and hypertension than people with a BMI of 20.
Even the BMI is independent of age and gender.
Of course, we should not be absolute, because the BMI is an assessment tool that presents deviations and fails to reflect the situation accurately. This does not mean that as an indicator is unreliable, but that is not always representative.
There are athletes with an increased body weight and increased D.M.P. but due to the highly developed muscular tissue. For this the control of body composition with fat measurement is more effective than the monitoring of body weight and of the board.M.P.
The fat measurement is a simple, quick, and painless procedure, which is able to give us a representative picture of our physical texture. The most common method used by dieticians is the method of bioelectrical conductivity. The proposed normal fat percentage for men and women, according to the National Institute of Health of the United States, are presented in the following table.
