Maximos’ Strategy for Poll Resurgence – Focused on Solving Everyday Problems

in

With the mantra that the opponent is everyday life, not opposition parties, Maximos Mansion and Kyriakos Mitsotakis are focusing their strategy for poll resurgence on resolving long-standing issues affecting citizens’ daily lives. Tomorrow (08.05.2025), the prime minister will visit Crete to sign off on the North Road Axis of Crete (N.R.A.C.), a much-anticipated project that locals have waited years to see completed due to high road tolls. Additionally, following recent violent attacks, the government announces new measures against university violence. The law from 2021 will be improved to facilitate the expulsion of students involved in criminal activities. Permanent expulsion will be enforced after a definitive conviction by the judiciary. Education Minister Sophia Zacharaki also announced controlled access to universities when necessary, banning parties or unrelated events within school premises, and requiring all rectors to submit safety plans. Satisfaction is evident at Maximos Mansion over New Democracy’s recent poll increase, attributed to ‘positive’ news about citizens’ daily lives. The ruling party aims to boost its ratings by at least four points post-D.E.T., with an estimated vote share approaching 31-32%. Encouraging findings show the ‘blue’ coalition regaining voters while main political rivals lose ground, except for the Freedom Sailing party. The focus remains on improving negative indicators, with affordability being the top issue. The government carefully prepares its D.E.T. ‘basket,’ emphasizing middle-class income support through tax cuts and interventions. Priorities include enhancing public services, reducing bureaucracy, and effectively addressing other daily challenges faced by citizens.
