A massive fire broke out on Tuesday evening (April 1) in Upper Patissia, near the electric station. As seen in the first images captured by newsit.gr, the fire is extensive, with firefighters preventing anyone from approaching the area. The building where the fire occurred is abandoned and located on St. Anthony Street. At one point, the fire grew to dangerous proportions, prompting residents of nearby buildings to evacuate their homes. Due to the fire, the police have implemented traffic restrictions in the vicinity. Specifically, traffic has been halted on Dimitrakopoulou Street at Agias Lavras, on St. Anthony Street at Herakleion Avenue, and on Tralleon Street at Herakleion Avenue towards Patissia. Reinforcements for the firefighting effort have been deployed, with 29 firefighters now working alongside 12 vehicles and a specialized articulated vehicle. Volunteers and water supply trucks from OTE are also assisting in combating the blaze.
