Massive Fire Breaks Out in Karystos Forested Area

An emergency was declared late Sunday evening (March 23, 2025) in Karystos due to a massive wildfire that erupted in a forested area. According to information from the president of the Kallianon community, Dimitris Vlachou, published by evima, the fire occurred in a wooded expanse at the location of Piliouri, in a rugged region with low vegetation. The fire department has already been notified. As residents of Kallianon told evima.gr, ‘The fire is massive and strong winds are blowing in the area. We are very worried because there are sheepfolds, and shepherds have gone out with flashlights to gather their sheep.’
