Basil Stergiou, a Greek entrepreneur living in Thailand, who was fortunately in Phuket at the time, stated that there is immense turmoil in Bangkok. ‘Thailand is not an earthquake-prone country; people are not trained for such events, and constructions do not adhere to strict safety standards,’ he described while speaking on the First Program 91.6 and 105.8. According to his report, numerous buildings have collapsed, and residents are terrified, uncertain about what lies ahead. ‘There are dozens of skyscrapers in Bangkok that need inspection,’ he added, continuing to say that ‘people have taken to the streets, waiting to see if they can return home.’ As he described, ‘pools on the 50th floor have cracked, water is running out. Cranes fell from the 50th floor, killing people below. We’re talking about a biblical disaster.’
