The renowned Greek actor Sotiris Tsogkas passed away at the age of 75, leaving a profound void in Greek theatre and deeply grieving his beloved wife, actress Mary Razis, and their daughter, Koralia Tsogkas.

Funeral at Zografou Cemetery

News of Tsogkas’s death broke on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, and his funeral was held on Saturday, 20 June 2026, at the Zografou Cemetery in Athens.

A Heartfelt Musical Tribute

One of the most moving moments of the ceremony came when Mary Razis and their daughter performed the iconic song ‘Ta Matoklada Sou Lamnoun’ (‘Your Eyelashes Shine’) — composed by Markos Vamvakakis — accompanied by live instruments, singing over Tsogkas’s casket.

The emotional performance was captured in a video shared on Facebook by actress Marilena Makri, a close friend of the couple. In her caption, she wrote: ‘A farewell to a great stage actor, husband, father, grandfather, colleague, friend — above all, a human being — with a song he loved dearly. So he may carry it with him on his journey.’

A Personal Farewell

On Friday, the day before the funeral, Razis posted a heartfelt message on Facebook mourning the loss of her life partner: ‘Sotiris is gone — gone upright! The last photo taken after his final stage performance. I can’t bear it.’
