Actress Maro Kontou remains hospitalized at Athens’ Attikon University General Hospital, where doctors are closely monitoring her condition on a daily basis. She is being treated in the Cardiology Department, and according to Michalis Giannakos — president of the Greek Association of Hospital Doctors (POEDIN) — her health has stabilized over the past one to two days.

Stable Condition, Expected Discharge

Speaking on ANT1’s morning show To Proino, Giannakos confirmed that Kontou has been admitted to a four-bed ward in the cardiology unit — not a private room — and emphasized that she never requested special treatment. Instead, he described her as the ‘joy of the ward,’ actively engaging with fellow patients by sharing stories from her life and theatrical career.

‘She entertained other patients with her stories — a truly remarkable person,’ Giannakos said. ‘Calm, smiling, always kind in her words to others, telling them tales from the theater.’

Clarifying the Cause of Hospitalization

In an earlier phone conversation with Mega TV, Kontou herself clarified the circumstances behind her hospitalization, aiming to correct initial misinformation. She explained that she slipped and fell, striking her leg. The incident resulted in an injury to her left hip and a fractured rib near the lung — prompting her admission to Attikon.

If today’s medical evaluation confirms her continued stability — consistent with the past two days — she is expected to be discharged this afternoon.
