Marina Spanou: “I wanted to be an actress but then I realized I was born to sing”

The 22 year old musician was invited to Nancy Zabetoglou and Nikos Anagnostopoulos at Studio 4 today Thursday (31.10.2024). Marina Spanou spoke about her family and the support shown by Melina Paionidou and Christos as parents and artists. “I feel that with one foot I step on another generation and with the other I try to be on mine. I haven’t lived it at the time, I imagine. At home we heard a lot of Hatzidaki, Theodorakis, English-speaking rock, Elton John but because of my mother, I grew up with musical songs,” Marina Spanou originally said. “I was fascinated by the scene, I grew up backstage, I was not afraid. I loved music, it was like a hobby. I said I wanted to be an actor, I know how difficult a profession it is, I watched it for 20 years with my father fighting,” he added. Regarding her school she said: “I didn’t intend to give nationwide but I was a good student, I was trying to be a child right at all. I made my personal effort and passed literature. I was in a hurry to climb the steps of life, in my family we were all three equals, had an opinion and felt one of the adults. My parents never forced me to go to university, they love the profession, they love me, they are artists and they want me to be happy.” She then told the story that first came out in Dionysios Avipagitou in the center of Athens, holding her guitar and singing on the road. “On the road I realized I was born for it. I had my music ahead, not my behavior, not what I’m wearing. That’s where I felt I belonged. First day I decided very spontaneously, a musician had brought a piano to Aviagitu and played a song that emotionally connects me to my mom and said “that’s what I want to do”. He concluded: “I got equipment that kept me for 2 years. I gave up nationwide, and the next day I wanted out. My father helped me get a speaker Friday and Sunday I got out. I told my parents not to come. Where I sing the “Skin” and raise my eyes and see my dad in black glasses. My best friend comes and says “this beer is from the gentleman”. Since then he has followed me everywhere.”
