Despite mounting public dissatisfaction with the current government, New Democracy (ND) not only maintains its lead but continues to operate at levels suggesting electoral self-sufficiency—according to a new poll by Marc for ANT1. Meanwhile, ELAS (Greek Left Alliance), led by Alexis Tsipras, has solidified its position as the second-largest political force, widening its gap over PASOK, which remains stuck in single-digit vote intentions and appears unable to capitalize on government fatigue.
Vote Intention Snapshot
In the Marc survey’s projected election outcome, ND scores 30.5%, holding a commanding 14-percentage-point lead over ELAS, which stands at 16.5%. In third place, PASOK and Maria Karystianou’s ‘Hope for Democracy’ tie at 10.5%. The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) follows with 6.5%, the Freedom Cruise with 5.3%, MeRA25 with 2.8%, and the Voice of Reason with 2.7%. SYRIZA and Niki hover just above the 1% threshold at 1.2% each; Spartiates register 1.1%, and the New Left 0.9%. Voters opting for other parties account for 2%.
Current Voting Intentions
In terms of current voting intention, ND holds first place with 26.8%—a marginal increase from 26.7% in the previous poll. Its lead over ELAS has widened to 12.5 points, as ELAS slips slightly to 14.3% (down from 14% in June). PASOK and ‘Hope for Democracy’ are again tied for third, both at 9.2%: PASOK edged up from 9.1%, while Karystianou’s party dipped from 9.5%. Greek Solution comes next at 6.1%, KKE at 5.9%, Freedom Cruise at 4.6%, MeRA25 at 2.4%, and Voice of Reason at 2.3%. SYRIZA falls to 1.1%. Undecided voters stand at 11.2%, unchanged from the prior survey.
Public Assessment of Government Performance
Overall, public evaluation of the government remains predominantly negative: 44.1% rate its performance negatively, and another 19.9% ‘somewhat negatively’—bringing the total negative assessment to 64%. In contrast, only 15.7% express a positive view, and 19.5% a ‘somewhat positive’ one—yielding a combined positive rating of 35.2%.
Internal Party Sentiment
Notably, sentiment within ND’s own voter base is mixed: nearly one in three of its 2023 voters (30.4%) assess the government negatively or somewhat negatively—while 68.6% still hold a positive or somewhat positive view. Among PASOK voters, negative assessments reach 67.9%; among former SYRIZA supporters, they soar to 92.1%.
PASOK’s Opposition Image
PASOK’s role as the main opposition force also draws largely unfavorable reactions: 47.9% of respondents evaluate it negatively, and 31.2% somewhat negatively—totaling 79.1% negative assessments. Only a small minority offers positive feedback.
