A panic-stricken scene unfolded at midday on Wednesday (May 7, 2025) in the port of Skala, Patmos, when a 34-year-old man fell into the sea from the passenger catamaran ‘Dodekanisos Express.’ According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, the man had temporarily boarded the ferry at Patmos harbor to load luggage for his relatives. However, upon realizing that the ship had begun its departure, he jumped into the sea in an attempt to return to shore. An immediate alarm was raised with the Port Authority of Patmos. A patrol boat from the Coast Guard and a nearby passenger vessel rushed to assist, while the crew of the ‘Dodekanisos Express’ threw a lifebuoy. Fortunately, the 34-year-old managed to get out of the water unharmed and is in good health. The ferry continued its scheduled route as planned, while the incident is now being investigated by the Patmos Port Authority.
