Major Fire Breaks Out in Aspropyrgos Sofos Area: Significant Firefighting Efforts Underway

A large fire erupted in the Aspropyrgos area, near Sofos, on Tuesday morning (May 6, 2025), prompting an immediate response from firefighting services. The blaze broke out in the Sofos region of Aspropyrgos, and emergency crews were mobilized to bring it under control. Currently, 38 firefighters, supported by two ground teams from the 1st Forest Fire Unit (EMODE) and 13 vehicles, are actively battling the flames. The fire is spreading in low vegetation around the Sofos area in Attica. According to reports from the Fire Brigade (@pyrosvestiki), there is no information yet regarding whether nearby homes are at risk.
