A magnitude 4.6 earthquake was recorded on Friday afternoon (20.06.2025) near Amorgos. According to the revised solution from the Institute of Geodynamics, the quake occurred 13 kilometers southwest of Arkesini, Amorgos. The seismic activity had a focal depth of 15.6 kilometers and was registered at 19:18 local time. In a Facebook post, seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos noted that ‘The general pattern of seismic activity in the region does not seem to have changed following the intense activity last February.’ He added, ‘A 4.6 magnitude earthquake just moments ago in the sea area between Santorini and Amorgos. The overall picture of seismic stress in the region remains consistent since the significant activity last February.’
