The quake shares the same epicenter as the powerful 6.1-magnitude earthquake that struck on May 22 in the northern waters off Crete. Specifically, the epicenter of this 3.5-magnitude tremor is located in the maritime region, 57 kilometers north-northeast of Neapolis Lasithiou, which was also affected by the earlier strong quake. The focal depth of the evening’s seismic event was recorded at 54.4 kilometers.
