officers of the Security sub-Division of Volos, a 63-year-old Greek.
After due investigations carried out by the police Authorities at his house, and warehouse, which were made in the context of exploitation of relevant information that came to their knowledge, possession and concealment of ancient objects from the perpetrator, found and seized a total of 23 pieces of amphorae and vessels, 9 amphorae and a byzantine icon, which fall under the law of antiquities.
As it became known, the arrested person is a private individual diver and said that he found all of the ancient artifacts at the bottom of the sea, but not stated in the Ephorate of Antiquities of Magnesia.
The ancient objects were delivered to the Ephorate of Antiquities of Magnesia for the precise identification and characterization. It is estimated however, that it is Byzantine era.
