Eleven years have passed since the cold-blooded murder of Pavlos Fyssas in Amphiala on the night of September 18, 2013, by Giorgos Roupakias, a member of the neo-Nazi organization Golden Dawn, which at the time was also a parliamentary party. Speaking today (08.03.2025) on “Akoma Den Eides Tipota,” Pavlos’s mother, Magda Fyssa, said that the pain never fades. “In no way does the pain ever go away; Pavlos was my child, my heart. At first, you don’t want to live; you want to ‘escape.’ Then, you learn to live with it. Life is so terrible that you don’t want it,” Magda Fyssa initially mentioned. She continued, explaining how her other child and grandchildren have lost parts of her because she has changed. What keeps them going is their shared grief, uniting them. She expressed missing everything about Pavlos and emphasized that her only title was being a mother. She felt compelled to step forward to claim justice. “I wanted to be there, to see them. I can confidently say these people – they are not human, they are beasts – never repented.” She addressed those wearing black armbands, urging them to reflect deeply so as not to end up in her position. Fyssa also spoke about the tragedy in Tempi and recent developments, believing the governing system cannot ignore public reaction and fears the anger. Reflecting on hate and hope, she concluded by standing with all victims and expressing pride in the new generation fighting for justice.
