“Sealed” private training centre following a complaint against harassment of students. Submitted to the National Authority Transparency complaint, according to which a private education teacher was harassing students of the school. According to a relevant communication from the National Transparency Authority, the National Transparency Authority immediately performed an audit at the private training centre and requested the immediate actions of the relevant Education Directorate, which conducted an Audit of the facts. More detailed, the following were found during the verification: From correspondence with the IDICA (Labour) it emerged that, while the teacher had resigned from his duties at school due to the harassment complaints, the ownership of the training centre, although he had knowledge of all of them, rehired him/her into another business of different subject than education. The correspondence with the competent Directorate for Education showed that the owner/teacher of the training centre, who/who previously worked in a public school, had been subject to the disciplinary penalty of the final cessation by the State, due to private work without prior authorisation. The owner/trione of the training course, at the time of its authorisation, signed as legal representative, although he had been subject to the penalty of final cessation (he had been dismissed). It is noted that according to the provisions in force, the non-dismissal of the legal representative of the training establishments is among the conditions for the authorisation of private training establishments. Following the above: The EAD Report was forwarded to the competent Prosecutor of Appeals for a criminal assessment of the facts contained therein. The Report was sent to the competent Directorate-General for the faithful implementation of the applicable provisions on the obstacles to the granting of authorisation to private trainers. The Minister for Education, on the basis of a recommendation from the Directorate-General, suspended the authorisation of this private training centre and the competent Directorate for Education, implementing the Minister’s decision, ‘sealed’ the private training centre whose operation was suspended.
