New developments have emerged in the two-month-old disappearance case of 50-year-old Yu Ting, a Chinese real estate agent who vanished on May 20. Her last known sighting was in Loutsa, a coastal town east of Athens where she lived with her husband.
Phone Traced to Athens Center
According to recent reports, Yu Ting’s mobile phone has been located in central Athens—shifting investigative focus to that area. On the day she disappeared, she left her home in Loutsa to attend a professional appointment in Exarcheia, but never arrived.
Device Recovered and Reset
As reported by Mega TV, the phone was initially found by a foreign national in Athens and later sold to a third party. Crucially, the device had undergone a factory reset—erasing potential digital evidence and complicating police efforts to reconstruct her movements or identify contacts.
Spouse Questioned, Financial Disputes Revealed
Yu Ting’s husband was summoned by authorities and provided additional testimony. In the days before her disappearance, she had attended a real estate-related meeting in Nikaia. She was also involved in four separate legal disputes concerning unpaid debts totaling approximately €500,000.
No Signs of Planned Departure
Despite having scheduled a 4 p.m. meeting with a building manager in central Athens, Yu Ting never showed up—prompting concern among associates and triggering the missing person investigation. Her husband, who was in China at the time, stated the disappearance was sudden and unexpected, emphasizing that she had no intention of leaving Greece. This is supported by the condition of the couple’s home in Artemida: her personal belongings—including clothing, luggage, and the bag she used for work documents—were found untouched.
