London: Shocking Video of 88-Year-Old Man’s Abuse Days Before His Death – ‘I’ll Whip You’

in

A horrifying video has emerged from London, revealing the brutal and degrading treatment of an 88-year-old man with dementia by a caregiver. The footage, captured on a security camera installed by the victim’s son, shows the woman dragging him across the floor like a ‘rag doll’ and verbally abusing him with threats such as ‘I might beat you up. I’ll whip you.’ Just ten days later, the elderly man was found unconscious and died in hospital.

The incident occurred on Christmas Eve 2022 at the victim’s home in Bexley, Kent, near London. The caregiver, 42-year-old Bilikesu Olagunju, was employed to look after John Attard, who suffered from dementia and diabetes. During her 45-minute shift, she is seen ignoring his pleas for help as he complained of pain, pouring hot coffee over him, and even putting jam in his coffee despite knowing he was diabetic.

At one point, Olagunju called her employer to report that the 88-year-old had fallen, but instead of calling emergency services, she attempted to lift him alone, complaining that ‘they should have sent a man for this job.’

The next day, Mr. Attard was found unconscious with facial injuries. He remained in a coma until passing away ten days later. Although the autopsy did not directly link his death to the abuse, bruises were found on his chest.

Olagunju pleaded guilty to the mistreatment and deliberate neglect of a vulnerable person. She received a suspended six-week jail sentence and 50 hours of community service from Woolwich Court, sparking outrage from the victim’s family. Chris Attard, the son, called the punishment ‘an insult,’ expressing concern that without cameras, the abuse could have continued unchecked.

Prosecutor James Benson described Olagunju’s actions as ‘violent, aggressive, and humiliating.’ Her defense argued that she had no prior convictions, felt ‘deep shame,’ and lacked proper training—blaming the agency that hired her.

The shocking case raises serious concerns about elder care and the accountability of caregivers tasked with protecting some of society’s most vulnerable individuals.
