London: Massive Fire Engulfs Electrical Substation in Westminster

Panic erupted early Tuesday morning (April 29, 2025) in central London after a major fire broke out at an electrical substation in the Mayfair area of Westminster. Black smoke billowed into the sky, visible from many parts of the British capital. The fire occurred during rush hour, with people heading to work. Authorities have advised residents in the area to keep their doors and windows shut. The London Fire Brigade has dispatched at least 15 vehicles and 100 firefighters to the scene. Morgan Utilities, the station’s manager, stated that it is a highly visible blaze with intense smoke, urging residents to keep windows and doors closed for safety reasons. A nearby building has also caught fire.
