More details are emerging about the attack in Liverpool and the man who drove into a crowd, injuring 79 people. The wife of the driver responsible for the incident during the victory parade learned about the horror when she saw her car on the news. The 53-year-old businessman, married with three children, lives with his family in an isolated suburban home in West Derby. Neighbors describe him as an ‘absolutely normal father’ and ‘good family man’ with ‘well-behaved children,’ who must have been ‘panicking at that moment.’ A neighbor told The Sun, ‘[His wife] realized it was her car on TV when she saw it in the parade.’ The man remains in custody at a Merseyside police station, suspected of multiple attempted murders, driving under the influence of drugs, and dangerous driving. He was arrested on Monday (26.05.2025) after a Ford Galaxy crashed into a crowd downtown. Seven people remain hospitalized but are reportedly recovering. Several children were also injured. When police arrived at the suspect’s house shortly after the incident, neighbors assumed the family had become victims of a burglary. ‘It’s a nice family; the boys are well-behaved. He once helped us when our shed collapsed. I know he did the same for other neighbors,’ one resident said. Social media posts show the sports enthusiast attended a local university, and his wife, married for 20 years, frequently shares joyful family vacation photos, including trips to Disneyland. Shocking videos circulating online show fans hitting the car windows before it accelerated, striking the crowd violently, throwing people over the hood, and trapping four individuals under its wheels. Police arrived at the scene within seconds and detained the driver, who remains in custody. Detectives have until tomorrow to question him further. Authorities confirmed the incident is not being treated as terrorism. Among the injured is Daniel Ianson, who witnessed the chaos. A 36-year-old man from Telford in Shropshire expressed relief that his entire family survived unscathed, crediting his son Ted as their miracle. His fiancée, also 36, is recovering after the car ran over her foot. The attack occurred on Monday evening, hours after the start of the massive parade celebrating Liverpool’s 20th championship title, drawing huge crowds downtown.
