Livadeia Mother’s Death: Placental Detachment Error

Livadeia: “Whatever went wrong happened during placental detachment,” says witness present in operating room

Many questions remain after the tragic death of a 35-year-old mother from Livadeia, who had just given birth to her second child. Her loved ones are left asking one overwhelming question: Why?

A family’s grief and demand for answers

The pain over her sudden passing is immense—but for her family and close relatives, sorrow is compounded by deep anger. Five days after her death in Livadeia, they are demanding full transparency about what exactly occurred during and after childbirth—and insisting that responsibility be assigned where due. Those found accountable, they say, must face legal consequences.

“Whoever is to blame must be held responsible”

Her husband spoke exclusively to Live News about the harrowing events of Wednesday, 24 June 2026—when joy over the birth of his second son was swiftly replaced by fear, anguish, and ultimately, mourning.

He said he had no idea his wife was in danger for many hours. “Twice I spoke with medical staff—first with the obstetrician alone, then with both the obstetrician and the anesthesiologist—and neither time did they warn me. They just said, ‘It’s fine, don’t worry, it’s nothing.’”

He described the incident as clear medical negligence and criticized the delay in informing him. “I keep thinking… that I didn’t do what I should have done for my wife. And it will haunt me forever—if she truly was at risk. Because I trusted the doctor’s words when he told me everything was okay.”

“Clearly a medical error”

Her brother, also speaking to Live News, stated unequivocally that his sister’s death was the result of a medical error. “Clearly, this was a medical error. In 2026, women shouldn’t die giving birth. It’s unacceptable for mothers to walk into hospitals smiling to deliver their babies—and never return home. My sister was perfectly healthy—and that’s why she gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby.”

“I have a four-day-old newborn at home and a ten-year-old boy without a mother,” her husband added.

What happened after delivery

Anna, 35, delivered her second child—a healthy baby boy—via cesarean section. Shortly after delivery, however, she developed severe, uncontrollable hemorrhaging. Doctors performed a hysterectomy in an effort to stop the bleeding and save her life—but her condition remained critical.

Her health deteriorated further over the following hours. That evening, doctors ordered a CT scan to check for ongoing internal bleeding. The scan showed no active hemorrhage—but her clinical status continued to worsen rapidly.

Despite intensive efforts by the medical team, Anna suffered cardiac arrest and passed away early Thursday morning, 25 June 2026.

New testimony from inside the operating room

A person who was present in the operating room during Anna’s cesarean delivery spoke to Live News, offering new insight into what transpired. According to this individual, “Whatever went wrong happened during placental detachment.”
